Unemployment Decreases in October

he unemployed persons, registered at the District Labour Offices on the last day of October 2018, reached 20,447 persons. Based on the seasonally adjusted data that show the trend of unemployment, the number of registered unemployed for October 2018 decreased to 24,922 persons in comparison to 25,399 in the previous month., according to data released by the Statistical Service of Cyprus.

In comparison with October 2017, a decrease of 5,989 persons or 22.7% was recorded which was mainly observed in the sectors of trade (a decrease of 1,122 unemployed persons), public administration (a decrease of 722), construction (a decrease of 714), accommodation and food service activities (a decrease of 666), manufacturing (a decrease of 620), education (a decrease of 220) and to newcomers in the labour market (a decrease of 1.462).
